City of Bradford had seven representatives at the recent North East Region Age Group Championships held at Sheffield Ponds Forge. Swimming as an eleven year old Isabelle Randhawa claimed a silver medal in the 50m freestyle and had top ten finishes in the 100m individual medley, 50m backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly and 100m freestyle. A squad of City’s swimmers who all train with Bradford Aquatics Competition Programme travelled to Ponds Forge Sheffield to compete in the North East Region Open Championships. Medals were hard to come by for City’s swimmers however it was Sophia Gledhill who claimed a third place finish to take home a bronze medal in the 16/under 200m butterfly. Swimming in the 70/74 years age group Chris Brown claimed two silver medals in the 50m backstroke and butterfly events in times 34.87 of and 35.32 respectively. Swimming as a eleven year old it was Isabelle Randhawa who stole the limelight when finishing in equal second place in the 50m backstroke and fifth in the 100m event. City’s swimmers had a very successful Upper Age Group Yorkshire Winter Championships coming home with medals, seven new national qualification times, a club record and a plethora of final placings. So proud of our swimmers this evening . After torrential rain , thunder and lightning, the weather finally cleared at the last minute and we were able to perform outside !!! Gabriel Medd led the field in the Aquasphere Epic Lakes Swim Open Water event held at Derwent Water Over the 3.8 km event he finished first male in his 16/19 years age group and third overall in time of 51 minutes 43 seconds.
