Winter Yorkshire Upper Age Group Competition

City’s swimmers had a very successful Upper Age Group Yorkshire Winter Championships coming home with medals, seven new national qualification times, a club record and a plethora of final placings.

Swimming as a fourteen year old it was Freddy Dean who was on top of the rostrum on no less than four occasions. His wins came in the 50m and 100m freestyle and 50m and 100m backstroke. He also placed second in the 50m butterfly and gained new national qualifying times in all his first placed events

Also swimming in the fourteen years age group it was Jasmine Shay who claimed gold medal position, a club record and a new national qualifying time of 29.07 in the 50m butterfly.

Next in line was Quinn-Austin Kelly also swimming as a fourteen year old. He had a gold medal place finish in the 100m breaststroke in a national qualifying time of 1.07.93. He then went on to finish in silver medal place in the 50m breaststroke and in bronze medal place in the 200m individual medley.

In the fifteen years age group Will Skiggs placed third in the 50m backstroke in a national qualifying time of 27.93.

Amy Hagyard and Dawid Naglik claimed third place finishes in their respective ages groups 100m breaststroke and 50m butterfly in times of 1.18.70 and 27.56 respectively.

Finally in the sixteen years and over events Gina Warrior placed third in both the 50m and 100m backstroke in times of 29.95 and 1.05.22.

Other top ten finishers were. Sophia Gledhill (4), Alex Dunn (3), Kai Mayers (2) and Ruby Byrne (1).

All swimmers train on the Bradford Aquatics Competition programme under the guidance of coaches Andy Pearce and Sarah Fisher.
