SUMMER MEDLEY MEET

SHIPLEY POOL

The climax of a series of training sessions for swimmers from swimming clubs in the Bradford area culminated in the Summer Medley Final Meet which was organised by Leisure Services Grass Roots Coach Sarah Fisher on behalf of the Grass Roots Development Group.

In the girls 9/10 age group the honours were shared between Abigail Shuttleworth of Bradford Swimming Club who won the butterfly and freestyle events and Isabel Mawson of Bingley Swimming Club who picked up the gold medals in the backstroke and breaststroke.

Bradford Dolphin’s Phoebe Action powered to victory in the girls eleven years freestyle and backstroke. City of Bradford’s Chloe Whitlock outclassed her in the butterfly event and Bingley’s Rachel Lamond in the breaststroke.

Lucy Rhodes, Bradford Swimming Club looked impressive in winning the girls 12 years backstroke and freestyle. City of Bradford’s Laura Mitchell picked up the gold in the butterfly and Dolphin’s Leah Chitson the breaststroke.

Ten year old William Broadbent of Bingley dominated the boys 9/10 year events with a clean sweep to his credit.

Aiden Sheldon of Bingley led the charge in the boys 11/12 years age group with wins in the freestyle and breaststroke with Ben Higgins of Bradford Swimming Club taking the backstroke and Jonathan Wright of Dolphins the butterfly.

Swimmers also competed in an individual medley event to assess their overall improvement over the series and as a result of this the top overall girl award was made to Megan Anderton of Bradford Swimming Club and the top boy award went to Sam Rochio also of Bradford Swimming Club.
