SPORT AID UNISON OPEN MEET - JOHN CHARLES CENTRE FOR SPORT, LEEDS - 8/9TH MAY 2010
Eleven year old Hannah Beaumont led City of Bradford Swimming Club’s charge at the recent Sport Aid Unison meet held at the John Charles centre for Sport. Beaumont produced some outstanding performances and took city’s only gold medal of the meet in the girls 10-11 years 50m backstroke. Not content with a gold medal she went on to take four bronze medals in the 100m butterfly, 50m and 200m freestyle and 100m backstroke. Her butterfly time of 1.22.06 was a new North East Region qualifying time. She also placed fourth in the 100m freestyle and sixth in the 50m butterfly event.
Isobel Stirk swimming in the girls 12-13 years age group hit the medal winning trail when she won silver in the 50m freestyle, and also had final placings in the 100m freestyle and 50m and 100m breaststroke.
In the sixteen years and over age group Chris Killock took silver in the 200m individual medley and finished in the top ten in the 50m and 100m butterfly.
James Lund swam a well paced race to claim bronze in the 10-11 years 200m breaststroke in a time of 3.13.91 and had a further three top ten finishes in the 50m breaststroke, 200m individual medley and 400m freestyle.
Last but not least in the medal stakes, Chelsea Reardon looked confident when she places third in the girls 12-13 years 50m breaststroke. She was also fifth in the 100m backstroke and her time of 2.42.35 gave her a new North East Region qualifying time. Her time of 30. 97 in the 50m freestyle placed her ninth.
Ebony Hirstle claimed five final placings, Josh Walker and Myles Stirk four, brother and sister Emma Blaby and James Blaby, three and Luke Strauss one.
All the swimmers swim under the guidance of Development Coach Sarah Fisher for Bradford Aquatics Development Programme.
