NATIONAL YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS SHEFFIELD PONDS FORGE
3 -7th AUGUST 2010.
Four of City’s swimmers travelled to Sheffield for the National Youth Championships.
City’s qualifiers Luke Constantine, David Brown, James Dawson and Sam O’Donohoe were up against the best of British Youth swimming in a hotly fought contest.
Breaststroke specialist David Brown swimming in the boys 15/16 age group swam a well paced 100m event to place seventeenth in the semi finals in a 2.4 second best time of 1.07.28. Sadly his time wasn’t fast enough to progress him to the final but his time bodes well for the future.
Swimming in the 17/18 age group Luke Constantine demonstrated consistent form in finishing the 200m individual medley in a time of 2.15.28 and the 200m Breaststroke in 2.37.10.
Now swimming as a 15/16 year old Sam O’Donohoe swam to a 2.18 .49 in the 200m backstroke.
Also competing at this level was fifteen year old James Dawson who completed his 100m and 200m breaststroke events in very creditable times of 1.12.71 and 2.37.23 respectively.
Sian Morgan will compete in Sunderland this week at the ASA National Championships and hopes to secure her place in the Welsh Commonwealth team.
All the swimmers train with Leisure Services Aquatic Competition Programme under the guidance of Head Coach Andy Pearce.
