LINCOLN VULCANS SWIMMING CLUB SHORT COURSE LICENSED OPEN MEET 2008     

SATURDAY 29th NOVEMBER 2008 - THE MERES LEISURE CENTRE, GRANTHAM

A small squad of City’s swimmers ventured into new waters when they travelled to Grantham to compete in the Lincoln Vulcans Graded Short Course Open Meet and came home with a host of medals and personal best times.

Fourteen year old Jamie Brown topped the medal table with gold medal winnings swims in the 50m and 200m free, 100m and 200m individual medley, 100m breaststroke and 100m butterfly. Younger brother Mathew finished in third place in the boys eleven years 50m backstroke and finaled in the  100m individual medley, 50m and 200m freestyle.

Following a recent return to the Councils Coaching and Training Scheme fifteen year old Kristian Hobson showed that hard work pays off when he won gold in the 50m and 100m backstroke, 100m individual medley, 100m breaststroke and 100m freestyle. He also placed second ion the 50m freestyle.

Rebecca Lund, fourteen struck gold in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and 100m individual medley whilst not to be outdone younger brother James continued the family breaststroke tradition and won the boys nine years 50m event. Rebecca also claimed medals in the in the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle and James in the 50m backstroke and 200m breaststroke and final placings in the 50m and 200m freestyle,100m individual medley

Bringing up the rear was fifteen year old Chris Killock who was on top of the rostrum in the 200m individual medley and the 100m and 200m butterfly. He also came second in the 100m backstroke, third in the 200m freestyle and sixth in the 50m freestyle.

Twelve year old Chelsie Reardon came home with a bronze medal in the twelve years 50m freestyle, fifth place finish in the 100m breaststroke and seventh in the 200m individual medley.

Junior Development swimmers, Lucy Ward and Ellie Coones in their first year of away meets rose to the occasion finishing with final placings.

Nine year old Coones placed fourth in the 200m breaststroke, fifth in the 100m individual medley, sixth in the 50m freestyle and seventh in the 50m backstroke.

Ward aged twelve posted a sixth place in the 200m backstroke and seventh in the 50m event.
