City Of Leeds Early Bird Meet
John Charles Centre For Sport - 4/5th October 2008
The John Charles Centre for Sport was the venue for the City of Leeds Early Bird Meet and once again City’s swimmers showed some early season form and a host of personal best times.
Topping the medal rostrum were thirteen year old James Dawson with wins in the 200m and 400m individual medley and Ellie Talbot in the 100m backstroke. Eleven year old Ellie also claimed final placings in the 100m breaststroke and 200m individual medley.
Rapidly improving James Lund aged nine years swam to personal best times in the 200m breaststroke to win a silver medal and fourth place in the 200m backstroke. He also finished in sixth place in the 200m freestyle
National Potential swimmers Nikki Chatburn and Josh Zenner had excellent swims with bronze medals coming in the twelve years 100m and 200m backstroke and 400m freestyle for Nikki along with a fifth place finish in the 400m individual medley, Zenner had success with a bronze medal in the boys thirteen years 200m butterfly and a fourth place in the 100m event.
Junior Development swimmer Jessica Foulds reaped the benefits of some hard training with no less than six final placings in the girls twelve years 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle and the 100m butterfly backstroke and breaststroke to show great versatility.
Twelve year old Lauren Sharp and eleven year old Haiqua Farooq were City’s other finalists with final placings in the 400m freestyle and 100m breaststroke respectively.
