With the opening of the new Leeds International Pool now imminent City’s swimmers competed in the last ever event to be held in the old city centre pool.
Finalists were too numerous to mention but special mention must go to the medallists.
Sian Morgan having just returned form a week’s training camp In Mallorca with her coach Andy Pearce and British Swimming showed she had good early season form with gold medals in the 100m 200m freestyle the 100m butterfly and 100m breastroke.
Isaac Ehdieb who was delighted to swim in the last actual event at the pool and claimed gold medals in the boys 13 years 200m Individual medley, 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke. No content with that haul of medals he swam to silver medals in the 100m and 200m freestyle 100m breaststroke and 200m backstroke and bronze in the 50m freestyle.
Thirteen year old Hannah Midgley had an excellent weekend going home with gold in the 400 freestyle, silver in the 440m individual medley and bronze in the shorter 200m individual medley
Niki Chatburn aged eleven won two silvers’ in the 100m and 200m breast stroke and a silver medals also went to Ellie Talbot in the girls ten years 50m freestyle, James Dawson in the boys 12 years 200m breaststroke and Sam O’Donohoe in the boys 12 years 100m backstroke. James also won bronze in the 200m butterfly
Rapidly improving O’Donohoe also claimed four bronze medals in the 200m backstroke, 50m and 100m freestyle, and 100m breaststroke
The final bronze medal went to 14 year old David Brown in the 200m breaststroke.
Andy Pearce who coaches the swimmers under Sport and Leisure Service coaching and training scheme was delighted with the overall performance which was a huge improvement on the results from last years Early Bird meet.
