JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT

 

SQUAD DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES-

The squad is for swimmers aged between 9-14 for females and 9-15 for males. The Aims & objectives of the squad are to develop swimmers for age group (BAGCAT) competition. For that reason a varied range of skills and stroke drills will be implemented, but the focus will be on fundamentals and enjoyment. The maximum number in the squad will be 34 swimmers.

SQUAD CRITERIA-

ENTRY-

  • 1. Swimmers must be of the age as stated in the squad description.
  • 2. Must hold a current Yorkshire A.S.A. qualifying time. (100m or above tat distance)
  • 3. Must have ambitions to achieve N.E.R. qualifying times and above.
  • 4. To be considered for JD swimmers must be able to demonstrate, on a regular basis-
  • a)  A good front & back streamlined position when pushing of the walls.
  • b) A good fly kick on front & back when pushing of walls.
  • c) Show a satisfactory level of turn skill on all 4 strokes and the 3 IM turns.
  • d) Be competent on 3 of the 4 swimming strokes.
  • e) Show a satisfactory level of fitness & stamina.

 

WHILST IN JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT SQUAD-

  • 1. Swimmers will attend a minimum of 4 sessions per week.
  • 2. Will arrive on time for the commencement of each session.
  • 3. Will hold a current Yorkshire S.A. qualifying time.
  • 4. Will demonstrate a positive attitude towards training, the coaches and their peers.
  • 5. Must show a commitment to AM training to be considered to move into National Potential Squad.
  • 6. Attend a minimum of 8 meets per season and enter the correct events as directed by the squad coach and Senior Coach.
  • 7. Swimmers will arrive at training sessions with the correct and appropriate kit.

 

EXIT-

  • 1. Swimmers will lose their place in the squad if their attendance falls below 4 sessions per week on a more often than not basis and will be recommended to the local clubs.
  • 2. Will move into Intermediate Squad when reach the required age.
  • 3. Will move to National Potential Squad if reach the standard of the top 18 within the scheme.

Monthly Fee -  £37.50

 

Please note that some training could be cancelled due to events.
