The ages of the swimmers in the squad are-

Males- 15-open,

Females- 14-open.

Aims and objectives-The squad is a platform into National Potential. Swimmers in the squad are expected to compete in relevant meets such as Yorkshire, NER A.S.A events and open meets. Swimmers will move between Intermediate Squad and National Potential as explained in the National Potential criteria. The maximum numbers of swimmers in the squad is 26.

 

As a member of this squad for the pool sessions you will need the following equipment:-

  • 2 x goggles (1 spare)
  • hand paddles
  • pull buoy
  • Kickboard
  • short fins (ie. zoomers)
  • drinks bottles (minimum of 2 litres)
  • training hat
  • drag pants (optional)
  • swim suit
  • Wet recording board (if own one)

For the land based sessions you will need to wear trainers, comfortable clothes and bring a drinks bottle (minimum of 1 litre).

 

SQUAD CRITERIA-

ENTRY-

1. The squad is open to swimmers of the ages as outlined above.

2. The squad shall be made up of swimmers that do not achieve the top 18 standard of National Potential.

3. Swimmers will enter the squad from Junior Development & Winning Edge when they reach the age as outlined above.

 
WHILST IN INTERMEDIATE SQUAD-

1. Swimmers must attend a minimum of 4 sessions per week. (An attendance mark will be given if a swimmer competes on a Saturday).

2. Swimmers will arrive on time for sessions.

3. Will take part in land training sessions as directed by the squad coach.

4. Attend meets and enter the relevant events as directed to do so by the squad and Senior Coach. (Minimum of 5 meets per year).

5. Demonstrate a positive attitude towards training, coaches and their peers.

6. Swimmers will arrive at training sessions with the correct and appropriate kit.

 

EXIT-

1. If swimmers do not abide by the above they will lose their place within the squad and will be passed onto 1 of the local clubs.

2. If a swimmer achieves a top 18 position before a review date they will be moved into National Potential Squad.
