Megan Bowes Ayres was City’s only finalist when they made their annual trip north to Darlington for the Darlington Open Meet. At the start of the new swimming season swimmers faced very tough opposition with swimmers competing from Loughborough University, Middlesbrough and the very strong Boro of Stockton team.
Megan swam an excellently paced race to finish fifth in the Women’s Open 100m breaststroke in a time of 1.22.81. She also competed in the 200m individual medley and 50m and 100m Freestyle.
National qualifier Lucy Burnside competed in no less than seven events and posted some good times in her aim to qualify for next years nationals.
Sixteen year old Michael Bonson tested his racing fitness when competing in the Men’s Open 200m individual medley, 100m and 200m freestyle 100m and 200m butterfly and 100m backstroke putting in some good all round performances.
Having recently returned to training Sian Freeman swam in the 200m individual medley and 100m freestyle and Luke Constantine showed his versatility by competing in the 100m breaststroke, freestyle and butterfly events
