Loyal supporters of City of Bradford’s Christmas Open Meet City of Salford held their annual Open Meet at Broughton Pool and City sent a large contingency of swimmers to test their racing fitness.
Continuing his impressive form it was thirteen year old Sam O’Donohoe who came home with an impressive haul of gold medals. His wins came in the 100m freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and the 200m individual medley.
Equally impressive was fifteen year old George Mack with gold medals in the 100m, 800m and 1500m freestyle and silvers medals in the 100m back, and 200m individual medley. He also finished fourth in the 400m freestyle. And fifth in the 100m breaststroke.
Breaststroke specialist David Brown claimed silver in the 100m event, fourth in the 200m individual medley and fifth in the 100m backstroke.
Two swimmers recently promoted to National Potential Squad proved their promotion was justified, Twelve year old Lydia Biddiscombe won bronze in the 100m backstroke and Josh Zenner finished fourth in the 100m butterfly, fifth in the 100m backstroke and sixth in the 100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and 200m individual medley.
Bronze medals went to Rebecca Lund in the thirteen years 100m breaststroke and Hannah Midgley in the 200m individual medley.
Brother and sister Jennifer and Michael Bonson both featured in two finals. Dyon Whitley and Chris Killcok were City’s other finalists
