CITY OF DERBY SWIMMING CLUB SHORT COURSE LEVEL 2 LICENSED OPEN MEET

A small contingent of City’s swimmers ventured into pastures new when they competed at the City of Derby Open Meet at Queens’s Leisure Centre Derby.
Continuing her preparation for European Junior Championships later this summer, fifteen year old Sian Morgan claimed the top fifteen years and over girl’s award based on Fina points. Not content with this accolade her time of 2.17.50 in the 200m butterfly was a new Yorkshire Junior record. Her wins came in the 50m and 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and individual medley events. Storming to victory in the 200 backstroke, breaststroke and 200m butterfly she claimed new national qualifying times to add to her ever increasing tally. Five of her swims were personal best times which will reinforce her confidence coming into the Championship season.
Luke Constantine swimming in the fifteen and over age group took the plaudits when he claimed gold in the 50 backstroke, and butterfly 100m breaststroke and 100m individual medley. His backstroke time being a personal best time.
Three more golds came City’s way when Sam O’Donohoe was on top of the rostrum in the fifteen years and over 100m and 200m freestyle and 200m backstroke. To round off his day he also claimed silver in the 50m backstroke and the top fifteen years and over boy award.
Fourteen year old Josh Zenner had an impressive medal tally taking home no less than two golds, three silvers and four bronze medals. His gold’s came in the 50m freestyle and 100m individual medley, his silvers in the 200m butterfly and individual medley and 100m butterfly. His bronze medals came in the 50m and 100m backstroke, 200m freestyle and 50m butterfly. Six of his swims secured him personal best times. Zenner also finished in seventh place in the 100m freestyle and secured second spot in the fourteen years boys Fina points table.
Last but by no means least fourteen year old Jessica Foulds demonstrated consistent form when she placed fourth in the 100m breaststroke, 100m and 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley. Her times of 1.23.20 and 2.34.56 in the 100m breaststroke and 200m medley respectively were both lifetime best times. She finished in seventh place in the 200m backstroke giving her fourth place in the fourteen years girl points table.
The medal tally of sixteen golds, four silvers and four bronze assured City’s team the 3rd place finish in the overall club position. All City’s swimmers train with Bradford Aquatics Development Programme under the guidance of Head Coach Andy Pearce.
