16th – 20th March Sheffield

Sian has been selected to represent Great Britain in the European Junior Championships as a result of her performances in Sheffield. The Championships will take place in Prague (Czech Republic) from 8th – 12th July. Many, Many congratulations Sian!!!!

Very well done to both Sian and Dmitry at the National Long Course.

This meet is without doubt the hardest meet in Britain to qualify for let alone be successful at. Both swimmers swam outstanding times and I was thrilled at how well they did.  Sian achieved a European Junior Championship QT on 400 free, was a whisker away from the 200 and was within touching distance of the 800 also. Dmitry gained his 1500 National Youth QT to go with the other three that he already has.

Let’s see if we can have more than two swimmers qualify for this meet next year.

With places on the World Championship team and European Juniors at stake the competition was always going to be tough and City’s representatives Sian Morgan and Dmitry Kadochnikov did not disappoint at this high level meet.

Sian Morgan continued her rise up the ladder of success and was rewarded with place on the European Junior Team for Prague in July of this year. Still only fourteen Sian had tough opposition but rose to the occasion and was the fastest 1994 born in the 400m freestyle in a European Junior qualifying time of 4.20.94, well inside the qualifying time of 4.21.63. A lifetime best of 2.04.75 saw her claim first place in the 200m freestyle. She also secured best times of 8.59.66 in the longer 800m freestyle where she was second fastest and fourth in the 400m individual medley in a time of 5.05.06. Her final swim in the 100m freestyle saw her finish fifth in a time of 59.71.

Relative newcomer to City of Bradford, sixteen year old Dimitry Kadochnikov swam to four personal best times in the freestyle events. The 100m event saw him finish in a time of 54.32 to claim fifteenth 1993 born. In the 200m events he finished in a time of 1.58.47 to finish in 13th place and the longer 400m swim 4.10.38 eleventh place. In the gruelling 1500m swim Kadochnikov’s time of 16.48.65 was a National Youth Qualifying Time which added to the 100, 200m and 400m he has already achieved gives him a total of four qualifying times for the championships later this summer.
