City of Bradford Swimming Club with a long tradition of fast swimming and festive fun held their twenty seventh annual Open Meet at Shipley Pool.
The showcase event produced some fine swims from the home team lead by seventeen year old national qualifier Luke Constantine. Swimming in the fifteen and over events Luke secured a national time for 2010 with an outstanding performance in the 200m breaststroke to claim the gold medal. He also swam to gold in the 100m event and the final event of the weekend the knockout skinz event. With silver medals in the 50m butterfly and breaststroke and 200m individual medley and a bronze in the 100m butterfly Constantine showed his versatility and that he can look forward to a successful 2010.
Ellie Talbot swimming in the 11/12 age group was in confident mood as she claimed wins in the 50m and 100m backstroke, silver’s in the 50m breaststroke, 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley and a bronze in the 100m freestyle.
Ten year old James Lund hit the medal winning trail with wins in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke, and rounded off the weekend with silver in the 200m individual medley.
Embasy’s James Dawson was a multiple medal winner with gold in the 13/14 years 50m butterfly, silver in the 50m backstroke and 200m individual medley and bronzes in the 50m breaststroke and both the freestyle and medley skinz.
Fresh from his victory in the 50m backstroke Myles Stirk went on to place third in the 9/10 years 200m freestyle and 100m backstroke. Older sister Isabel took bronze in the 50m freestyle and in the thirteen and under freestyle skinz.
Jessica Foulds looked impressive as she utilized her power and speed to take the 13/14 girls 100m freestyle and followed that up with silver in the 200m freestyle and bronze in the 200m medley. Younger sister Millie joined her with silver in the 9/10 years 200m freestyle and a bronze in the 200m backstroke.
Matthew Brown responded well to a heavy programme, taking the 11/12 year 50m freestyle and silver in the 100m event whilst namesake David, a breaststroke specialist won the fifteen and over 50m event and silver in the longer 100m.
Isobel Mawson was in confident mood when she won the 9/10 year 50m breaststroke and followed that up with a bronze in the 100m race.
The final gold medal winning performance came form Hannah Midgley in the 15 and over 200m breaststroke in a time of 2.57.33.
Silver medals also went to Sam O’Donohoe (2), Megan Lee (2), Josh Zenner (2), Azura Cairns Poole (2), Joanna Gledhill (1) Laura Hartley (1)
Zenner along with Nicole Fordham also went home with three bronze medals whilst James Blaby, Ebony Hirstle and Jordon Tate all claimed one bronze medal finish.
