City of Bradford Swimming Club
Thank You for your interest in the City of Bradford Swimming Club - who knows! This could be your first steps on the road to the Olympics! Here you will find information about the Club and the training scheme which we hope will help to answer any queries that you might have.
The City of Bradford Swimming Club was formed in 1981 to take swimmers from the local authority Swimming Development Scheme swimming lessons and the Local Clubs, on to take part in competitive swimming at higher levels. It covers the whole of the Bradford Metropolitan district and offers the opportunity to train and compete at the highest levels.
With its professional coaching team, under Senior Coach Andy Pearce, its aim remains to provide opportunities for all the swimmers in the area to realise their own potential in a positive and structured environment, starting from the Rising Stars which takes swimmers from the age of 8 and continuing right up to the National Potential Squad whose members train for up to 16 hours a week and then on to Masters Swimming. Over the years we have had Swimmers compete at the very highest levels - including the Olympics.
The Club is open to everyone in the Bradford Metropolitan District and has two main training sections;
Junior Swimming - This is where Olympic Dreams Begin. We offer a progressive, professional coaching and training scheme that can take you from the Rising Stars who are just beginning to compete, right through to the Youth and National Squad swimmers who compete at the highest levels in the country.
Masters Swimming - To improve your style and fitness - or to try your hand at something more competitive - Masters Swimming offers a fun, sociable swimming environment with qualified coaches to help whatever your level of ability. From the ages of 19 to 109 there are events in graded age groups just for you!
We also offer opportunities for swimmers with a disability with specially trained and qualified coaches who will help you to maximise your potential and enjoy a challenge.
Or if you would like to expand your horizons beyond the confines of a swimming pool and out into the wider reaches of rivers, to lakes and even the sea, then Open Water Swimming could be for you. This is open to anyone over the age of 12 - subject to certain safety based criteria.
It is an accredited Swim21 club meaning that it operates to nationally recognised standards in all aspects of the club and is affiliated to the Amateur Swimming Association.
