Leisure Services Swimming Development held the final in this year’s series of Rising Stars Meets for the swimming year at Shipley Pool.

In the girls seven/eight year’s events Tabitha Holdsworth of Ilkley Swimming Club had wins in the freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly events but was prevented a clean sweep by Melissa Bland of Bradford Dolphin in the backstroke event. The boy’s seven/eight years age group saw Myles Stirk of Bradford Dolphin win the freestyle, backstroke and butterfly with James Lund of Bingley coming in first in the breaststroke.

Bradford Dolphin swimmers dominated the girls nine years age group with Hannah Beaumont winning the freestyle, Laura Hartley the breaststroke and Megan Lee the backstroke. Azura Cairns-Poole of Bradford Swimming Club won the butterfly

The Holdsworth family of Ilkley finished the day in fine style when Henry had a clean sweep in the boys nine years age group.

In the older age groups ten year old Phoebe Acton of Bradford Dolphin won all but the butterfly event which was claimed by Lucy Ward of City of Bradford Swimming Club and the equivalent boys age group was shared between Jack Delaney of Bradford Dolphin in the freestyle and breaststroke, Dale Brundle of Bradford Swimming Club the backstroke and Benjamin Housley of Skipton the butterfly.

Swimming in her last Rising Stars Meet eleven year old Ellie Talbot of City of Bradford went out in style with a clean seep in the girls eleven years age group. Last but by no means least Ben Higgins for Bradford Swimming Club showed his increase in training was paying off when he recorded wins in all but the backstroke events which as won by Matthew Brown of Bradford Dolphin.

RISING STARS MEET

SUNDAY 11th November  2007

 

Sport and Leisure Service Swimming Development held the first in the series of Rising Stars Meets for the swimming year at Shipley Pool.

The Girls 7/8 years events saw newcomer Tabitha Holdsworth of Ilkley take the butterfly event but Millie Foulds of Bradford Dolphin was victorious in the remaining three events.

The honours were shared in the equivalent boy’s events with Myles Stirk , Bradford Dolphin taking the freestyle, butterfly and backstroke and James Lund of Bingley the breaststroke.

Emerging star Hannah Beaumont, City of Bradford was prevented a clean sweep in the girl’s nine years events by Azura Cairns-Poole who won the freestyle leaving Hannah with honours in the breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly.

The boys nine years saw Andres Volosyanko of Bradford Swimming Club coming through in the freestyle and backstroke with Jacob Scott of Bingley winning the breaststroke and Tabitha Holdsworth’s brother Henry the butterfly

Clean sweeps were the order of the day in the girls and boys ten year’s events and the boys eleven years with Sophie Holdsworth of Bingley and Kiernan Belk of Skipton taking the honours in the ten years and Matthew Brown of Bradford Dolphin in the boys eleven years.

The girls eleven years saw two City of Bradford swimmers Haiqa Farooq and Ellie Talbot battling it our for honours. It was Haiqa showing vast improvements in the breaststroke to take the title form Ellie who was triumphant in the remaining events.
