RISING STARS MEET SHIPLEY POOL

The third of this years Rising Stars Meets was held at Shipley Pool and as always competition was fierce between the City’s younger swimmers.

The 8 year olds competed over 25m and in the girl’s events Jessie Terry, Bradford Dolphin was narrowly prevented a clean sweep when she was beaten in the breaststroke by Olivia Cann of Ilkley.

In the equivalent boys events the result was a clean sweep for Dalton Clapham, Bradford Swimming Club with wins in the backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle.

The girls nine years age group honours were shared between Lucy Adeniji, Dolphin who struck gold in the backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle with Hannah Shuttleworth, Bradford taking the butterfly and individual medley.

In the boys nine years, Andrew Mettrick, Bingley dominated the events with the exception of the medley which was won by Kyle Welsh also of Bingley.

Dolphin’s Holly Bairstow triumphed in the ten years, backstroke, freestyle and medley with the breaststroke going to Ami Firth, Bingley and the butterfly to team mate Abigail Gleghorn.

City of Bradford’s Nathan Strauss powered to victory in the ten years events with Oliver Wain, Bingley, finishing ahead of him in the freestyle event.

In the girls eleven years age group Francesca Sian Woodman, Ilkley looked impressive in the backstroke, freestyle and medley with Bradford’s Roisin Duffy taking the breaststroke and butterfly.

Dolphin’s Tobi Adeniji continued his good vein of form in the equivalent boy’s events with wins in the backstroke, butterfly and medley with Alexander Medd, Bingley capturing the breaststroke and freestyle.

Bradford Swimming Club dominated the girls twelve years age group with Rachel Brown coming through in the breaststroke, freestyle and medley and Danielle Taylor and Maria Campean taking the backstroke and butterfly respectively.

William Broadbent, Bingley took the plaudits in all five of the twelve year old boy’s events.

Bringing up the rear in the thirteen years age group were Lauren Ascough, Dolphin with a clean sweep in the girl’s events and James Dawson, Bradford taking all but the freestyle in the boy’s events. The freestyle was won by Aaron Lewis of Bradford Dolphin.

 

The next event run by Bradford’ Grassroots Development Group will be their Level 4 Invitational Meet to be held at Shipley Pool on Sunday December 4th. Further details can be found on
