The second of this years Rising Stars Meets was held at Shipley Pool and produced some outstanding results from the City’s younger swimmers.
The 8 year olds competed over 25m and in the girl’s events Hannah Shuttleworth, Bradford Swimming Club narrowly missed a clean sweep of all four strokes when she was beaten at the post in the butterfly event by Bradford Dolphin’s Jessie Terry.
In the equivalent boys events the result was a repeat of the April meet when the honours went to Kyle Welsh of Bingley Swimming Club in the backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle and Dalton Clapham of Bradford preventing his clean sweep with a first place finish in the butterfly.
The girls nine years age group honours were shared between Lucy Adeniji, Dolphin who took the plaudits in the backstroke and freestyle, Ruth Hollis, Bingley, who took the breaststroke and Ellie Louise Medd, Keighley Swimming Club who took the butterfly.
In the boys nine years Andrew Mettrick, Bingley dominated the backstroke and freestyle. Alexander Devanny, Bradford Swimming Club was top of the podium in the butterfly and individual medley and Benjamin Adeniji, Dolphin took the breaststroke.
Dolphins dominated the ten years age group when Sophie Haran, stormed to victory in the girls breaststroke, freestyle and medley, team mates Holly Bairstow and Jade Buxton talking the backstroke and butterfly respectively.
Dominic Bland continued the clubs success with a clean sweep in the boy’s events.
In the girls eleven years age group Bradford’s Maria Campean sprinted to glory in all five events. The equivalent boy’s events saw Tobi Adeniji continue the family success with wins in the backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Alexander Medd of Bingley claimed the medley and Matthew Griffiths, also Bingley the butterfly.
