Morrisons Bag Pack

Well done to all swimmers and parents who took part in the bag pack at Morrisons. You raised a mighty £947.25 for the club.

This will go towards the club’s funds for the social evenings and forthcoming theme park and overseas trips.

You should all be very proud of yourselves. Keep it up!!

Presentation and Social Night

Saturday 20th November

From 7.00 to 11.00 pm at Heaton Squash and Tennis Club. (next to St. Bedes School, Emm Lane).

This is a UV Themed night so luminous clothing etc to be worn.

Tickets are £3.00 for a family and can be purchased from Sara Beaumont

Bag Pack - Thank You

A big thank you to all swimmers and parents who attended the Bag Pack at Morrisons on Saturday.

We raised a massive £897.00 for the club - this is an amazing amount and you should all be very proud of yourselves.

You were all Fab and a credit to our club!

Presentation and Social Night

This has been booked provisionally for Saturday 6th November at Heaton Tennis Club. Please make a note in your diaries! More details will follow nearer the time.

Bag Pack – 4th September (Morrisons Five Lane Ends)

The club has organised a Bag Pack on the above date to raise funds for the Club. This is one of our main Fundraising Events! Could as many swimmers as possible try to attend, even if it is just for one hour. Please let me know if you can help social@cobsc.co.uk

Race Night – 19th June 2010

A Big Thank You to all those who attended the recent race night and for all the food donations. We raised a total of £350 which will go towards other social events for our swimmers. Please support us in our fundraising events as these are a vital role in our club and also a great way for the swimmers to join together.

Lightwater Valley – 4th July

This was another successful trip attended by swimmers from all squads. The swimmers and adults had a fab day and this was a chance for the swimmers to let their hair down on the scary rides.

Race Night

The Club is holding a Race Night on Saturday 19th June at Queensbury Conservative Club (cheap beer for you mums and dads!!!) from 7.00 pm. This is aimed at being a fun social event for all swimmers and parents to join in with. You are also welcome to bring along friends and family if you wish.

Horses for the night will be available to buy at a cost of £3.00, with the winning owner receiving a prize. Horses have to have a name so get thinking! You can also sponsor a whole race for £10.00 (so if anybody knows of any companies or employers who will do this then that would be great). The first race will begin at 7.30 pm, and the last race of the evening will be an auction race where you can bid to buy the horses. We also want to provide a supper on the night, and a food list will be available for you to donate anything (however small) for the evening.

Please put this date in your diaries and come and join us as we aim to have as many of our swimmers there as possible.

The club is trying to purchase tickets for the British Gas "Duel in the Pool" which will take place at Manchester Aquatics on Saturday 19th December. This event sees teams of top swimmers from different countries competing against each other.

Michael Phelps, the most successful Olympian of all time, will compete in Britain for the first time in December in a Ryder Cup-style "Duel in the Pool" event pitting some of Europe's best swimmers, including Britain's Rebecca Adlington, against America.

The United States will bring a full-strength team of 36 athletes (18 men, 18 women), headed by Phelps, 24, who won eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics to add to the six he won in Athens in 2004. A "European select team" will be made up of six men and six women from each of Britain, Italy and Germany. The British Gas Duel in the Pool will be staged at the Manchester Aquatics Centre.

The programme will include 13 men's events and 13 women's events, plus two relays each for the men and women. Points will be awarded per podium place and the winners will be the team with the most points. It will be a short-course meet (25m), with "finals" only, and the whole event will be screened live by the BBC. Any one swimmer can enter up to six events, relays included.

Tickets are priced at £20.00 per adult and £15.00 for under 16s. The club is willing to subsidise £5.00 of the cost of each ticket. Tickets are very limited and, therefore, if you are interested in going to see this spectacular event could you please email me BY RETURN with the number of tickets required.
