ASA NORTH EAST REGION SENIOR & JUNIOR 25m CHAMPIONSHIPS

A small squad of City’s National Potential squad members who train under the guidance of Bradford Aquatics Competition Programme’s senior coach Andy Pearce travelled to Sunderland to compete in the North East Region Senior and Junior short course Championships.
Sian Morgan continued her rich vein of form when she powered to victory in the 400m individual medley in a time of 4.47.41 which was also brought her tally of National Youth Qualifying time for 2012 to nine. She also gained qualifying times in the 200m backstroke where she placed second, the 200m butterfly and the 50m freestyle placing third. All her swims were also lifetime best times.
James Dawson was City’s only other medallist finishing third in the 200m breaststroke in a time of 2.28.09 and sixth in the 50m event.
Sam O’Donohoe competed in six events and had life time best times in all his swims. His final placings were fifth in the 100m butterfly, sixth in the 50 event and 100m backstroke.
Other finalists were Ellie Talbot and Josh Zenner who both claimed ninth spot in the 50m backstroke and 200m butterfly respectively.

Eleven year old Myles Stirk stole the limelight in the BAGCAT Championships. His gold medals in the 100m, 200m, 400m freestyle, 100m and 200m backstroke and 200m individual medley helped him to secure the top eleven years boy based on BAGCAT points.
In the girls events Jasmine Hanson secured fourth place in the thirteen years 100m breaststroke.
In the twelve years age group Abigail Shuttleworth placed fifth in the 200m butterfly, Isobel Mawson tenth in the 100m breaststroke and Eva Chapman tenth in the 400m freestyle.
In the boys events, Fourteen year old Matthew Brown took home three top ten finishes in the 100m and 200m backstroke and 100m freestyle.
George Acton, ten finished sixth in the 100m backstroke, and eighth in both the 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke.
Bringing up the rear were Ryan Allen who placed sixth in the eleven years 200m backstroke and James Lund who finished seventh in the 100m breaststroke.
