SPORT AID OPEN MEET

City’s Development Squad swimmers made the short journey to Leeds to compete in the annual Sport Aid Meet.
It was emerging talents Myles Stirk and James Lund who came home with a plethora of medals in the eleven years age group.
North East Region champion Stirk took the gold in the 50m, 200m, 400m freestyle, 200m backstroke and 200m individual medley.
Lund led the charge in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke and the 400m medley. He also finished in bronze medal position in the 200m medley and had five further final placings two of which were improved North East Region qualifying times.
Stirk’s sister Isabel, fourteen, claimed silver in the 50m freestyle and City’s newcomer Ryan Allen silver in the eleven years 100m backstroke. His time of 1.22.50 was a new North East Region qualifying time as was his time of 2.52.30 in the 200m event which placed him fourth. He also finaled in the 200m medley and 200m freestyle.
The eleven years age group continued to be successful for City when Eva Chapman finished in third place in the 200m and 400m freestyle. Both swims were new North East times. She also finished in fourth place in the 100m event in a new time and had three further placings.
Azura Cairns Poole hit the pads in third place in the 50m and 100m butterfly and had two further placings.
James Blaby hit the medal winning trail with bronze medal in the 50m and 200m butterfly. His longer distance time being an improved North East time. He also finished fourth in the 100m event and had four further placings.
Ellie Talbot’s four final placings included a bronze in the fourteen years 100m backstroke.
Other finalists were, Matthew Brown (3), Millie Foulds (3), Laura Hartley
(3), Isobel Mawson (2), George Acton (2), and James Towler, Gianni Vienza, Joshua Holdsworth, Jasmine Hanson, Michaela Dalton and Abigail Shuttleworth with one place each.
All the swimmers train with Bradford Aquatics Development Programme.
