Myles Stirk was in blistering form when he outshone his rivals and produced some outstanding performances at the North East Region British Gas BAGCAT Championships held at Ponds Forge Sheffield. The eleven year old who trains with Sarah Fisher, Bradford Aquatics Development’s Coach came home with three gold and three silver medals and collected no less than six national age groups qualifying times in doing so . His swims also earned him the 11 year old BAGCAT title for 2011. His gold medal winning performances came in the 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle. He also clinched silver medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke and 200m individual medley. These exceptional swims were all swum in personal best times and rounded off a superb series of swims for the swimmer who now looks forward to the National Age Group Championships to be held in Sheffield next month.
Also on the podium was eleven year old James Lund who improved his national time in the 200m breaststroke and claimed the regional title in a time of 3.04.03. His time of 1.27.88 in the 100m event which also earned him a regional title was also a qualifying time. He also clinched silver in the 400m medley and four further top ten placings.
Top ten finishes and personal best times. also went to Michaela Dalton, Eva Chapman, Jasmine Hanson, Isobel Mawson, Aidan Sheldon and Ryan Allen.
Other swimmers who qualified for this prestigious meet were Jovana Lugonja, Emma Blaby, Mille Foulds, Hannah Beaumont, Abigail Shuttleworth, James Blaby, Matthew Brown and James Towler.
